As a graduate of linguistic anthropology, Rae has spent several years in academia with their research focusing on identity and the relationship between language and power. Rae is passionate about social justice and has also worked in Indigenous language revitalization and wildlife rehabilitation. Before joining CCIB, they worked as a policy advisor and co-chaired the 2SLGBTQQIA+ Advisory Committee for the Native Women’s Association of Canada.
Originally from a rural Northern Ontario community in Treaty 9 Territory (Hearst), Rae loves being in the snow. When they aren’t spending time outdoors with nature and wildlife, you can find them doing something creative.
