Stan Higgins, a proud Métis entrepreneur, is the founder and president of VersaPile Inc., a leading helical pile contractor based in Manitoba and completing projects nationally. Since establishing the company in 2011, Stan has driven its rapid growth, earning VersaPile recognition as one of Canada’s Top Growing Companies by The Globe and Mail. Known for its innovative application of helical piles, VersaPile is dedicated to sustainability, notably reducing carbon footprints on construction projects. The company was recently honored with the Innovation in Clean Energy Award from the First Nations Power Authority for its geothermal helical piles.
VersaPile primarily serves the energy and utilities sector, while also working closely with Indigenous communities. Through the VersaPile Indigenous Partnerships (VIP) initiative, Stan has created opportunities for First Nations to actively participate in helical pile installations, offering training, resources, and an equitable share in project profits. Drawing on over a decade of successful foundation installations on hundreds of First Nations projects, this initiative exemplifies his vision of building lasting community partnerships.
Stan is married to Sande, an Oji-Cree First Nations woman who recently retired from RCMP. They have two boys, Jaxson (11) and Barrett (9) who are extremely proud of their Indigeneity and who are both interested to join VersaPile in the future.
