Hydro‐Québec generates, transmits and distributes electricity. It is Canada’s largest electricity producer and ranks among the world’s largest hydropower producers. Its sole shareholder is the Québec government. The company uses mainly renewable generating options, in particular large hydro.
Many of its generation and transmission facilities are located on land used by Indigenous communities. This has brought Hydro‐Québec to enter into more than 40 agreements with Indigenous communities, which simultaneously act as hosts to many of our projects, business partners and customers.
