At Economic Development Lethbridge, we are in the business of building community.
Together with our 31-member volunteer Board of Directors, we serve as stewards of the economic strategy for the city and ambassadors of the Choose Lethbridge brand. We connect, support and promote this city as a place for enterprise, but also as a place where businesses and citizens can thrive within a welcoming community. With quality market data, a network of partners and a dedicated team, we work on projects to support: business retention and growth; start-up development, training and mentorship; meeting and event attraction and execution; and marketing and advocacy.
Economic Development Lethbridge (EDL) owns and operates Tecconnect, a business incubator promoting entrepreneurship and innovation. Through this facility we provide incubator services and training as well as entrepreneur centric workshops to startup companies working on innovative ideas and technologies. Tecconnect is the only technology hub and incubator south of Calgary. Programs include promoting women entrepreneurship in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM), Indigenous and Immigrant centric entrepreneur programs, introductions to emerging technologies and so much more. Tecconnect helped companies innovate in many industries including geospatial applications in precision agriculture, environmental monitoring in agriculture, water management and oil/gas; farm-scale anaerobic digester; UAV spatial data applications for agriculture and oil/gas; 3D digital marketing; emerging technologies like Blockchain and AI, supply chain; web-desking tools for automotive dealerships; fintech such as virtual accounting and big data management as examples. We are also founding members of the Regional Innovation Network of Southern Alberta (RINSA) collaborating with community partners including Kainai Economic Development and Piikani Resource Development.
