Cheri Maracle is a multi- award nominated actor/singer/ songwriter from the Six Nations of the Grand river Territory, Ontario. She has been performing in Canada, the U.S. and Europe in the last 20 years.
Cheri has released three critically acclaimed albums, Closer To Home (2006), and If I Am Water (2013), and most recently, jazz compilation, Ache of Love, all available on itunes, and through her website.
Although her traditional roots of singing and playing a handrum are a mainstay in her music career, Cheri’s passion for Jazz prevails, and she performs Jazz quite regularly with her pianist, travelling as far as Delhi, India this past July to perform at the Canada 150 celebrations at the High Commision of Canada in India Gala- both for Jazz and to perform the Canadian Anthem in the Mohawk language. With her quartet, Cheri most recently performed at the ROM, and at Brantford’s International Jazz Fest, and also at Chiefswood Park’s Solidarity Day celebrations. Most recently Cheri performed at the 2018 Indspire Awards, aired on CBC and APTN.
Cheri has many tv, film, and stage credits to her name; and has appeared in Tv shows: Blackstone, DeGrassi, Murdoch Mysteries, Four in the Morning, Dead Man’s Gun, Moccasin Flats and Blackfly, to name a few. Cheri has also co-hosted the Indspire awards, 2007,2014,2017 televised on Global, and recently was a featured actor/singer in NFB documentary The Road Forward, currently making it’s rounds on the festival circuit.
She is a Gemini nominated actress, and as well has twice been nominated for the KM Hunter theatre award for her body of theatre work. Her one woman musical theatre show Paddle Song, based on famed Canadian Poet, Pauline Johnson, garnered her a best solo performance nomination, at the High Performance rodeo Festival in Calgary, 2016, and was performed in Norway, and India as well.
Cheri recently starred in short film, We’ll Always Have Toynbee, shot in Montreal, and upcoming will appear in the world premiere of Everything I Couldn’t Tell You, theatre piece, written by Jeff D’Hondt, produced in Toronto at the Theatre Centre.
