Manager, Finance
Salary Range: $62,400 – $83,000

The Manager, Finance, is a vital member of our team. This role involves overseeing all financial operations, leading a dedicated team, and collaborating with the VP of Finance to drive strategic initiatives. The ideal candidate will bring a passion for our mission and a commitment to excellence in financial management.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Oversight:
- Assist by preparing accurate financial reports and ensuring timely communication of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements to the VP of Finance.
- With oversight from the VP of Finance, develop and manage financial plans and budgets; monitor performance and variances, keeping the VP of Finance informed of the organization’s financial position.
- Prepare and Update VP regarding cash flow management and forecasting to support organizational stability.
- Ensure compliance with ASNPO standards in all accounting practices and contract management.
- Maintain a clean balance sheet with rigorous account reconciliations.
- Aid in preparing year-end audits and preparing year-end working papers, charity returns, and other financial reporting required for contract/grant audits.
Policy and Procedure Development:
- Support the finance department’s policy and procedure manual to ensure alignment with best practices and regulatory requirements.
- Complete bi-weekly payroll processing, prepare RRSP schedules, and ensure accurate journal entries.
Team Management:
- Foster a collaborative and high-performing finance team through effective supervision, training, and evaluation.
- Support staff development initiatives in partnership with the VP of Finance to enhance team capabilities and career growth.
- Manage confidential records related to salaries and benefits, providing guidance to employees on finance-related matters.
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- 7-10 years of professional experience in financial management, with a focus on nonprofit organizations and at least 6 years in a people management role.
- Payroll experience is a must.
Skills and Competencies:
- Proven track record of ensuring the integrity and quality of financial data, reporting, and audit coordination in a nonprofit setting.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities that support effective decision-making.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of engaging with diverse stakeholders.
- Demonstrated leadership skills, with a focus on team building and collaboration.
- Proficiency in accounting software, particularly Sage Intacct, and a strong understanding of financial regulations in Canada.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
