Salary Range: $64,200 – $83,000

Important Note: CCIB is looking for a strong candidate ready for a unique opportunity to move from the Senior Manager role into the Director role in this department, as the current Director will be retiring in July 2025. The successful candidate will work in collaboration with the present Director for a transfer of knowledge and hands-on experience at CCIB flagship events and awards.
The Senior Manager, Events & Awards, plays a crucial role in ensuring the successful delivery of CCIB’s mission through impactful and well-executed events.
This role requires a dynamic individual who is passionate about advancing Indigenous business and capable of managing high-profile events and awards programs, driving strategic improvements, and fostering relationships with key stakeholders. The Senior Manager will oversee the planning and execution of all external events, including the flagship CCIB Indigenous Business Forums, as well as administering the national CCIB Awards program.
This role is responsible for overseeing the events team, ensuring smooth operational workflows, maintaining high standards for event planning and delivery and providing strategic insights to improve event outcomes continuously. The Senior Manager will also oversee key event technologies, ensure seamless coordination across departments, and collaborate with stakeholders, sponsors, and members to deliver successful events and award programs. They will work closely with the VP of Marketing, Communications & Events to develop strategies ensuring events are cohesive, well marketed, highly valuable and relevant to attendees.
This remote position requires flexibility to travel across the country and to the Toronto head office as required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Event Administration & Logistics:
- Lead the planning, scheduling and execution of all CCIB events, including recruiting and liaising with event panelists, speakers, MCs, talent and others.
- Oversee the maintenance of event calendars, critical paths and work-back schedules to ensure timely and organized event delivery.
- Work with volunteer Advisory Committees and the VP of Marketing, Communications & Events on event planning and support.
- Work with the Events & Awards team to oversee the online registration system and CRM, ensuring accurate tracking of registrations, ticket sales and event-related data.
- Provide high-level logistical support, including coordinating with vendors, venues and sponsors with the support of team members.
- Create and manage event budgets in collaboration with the VP, Marketing, Communications & Events, and the Finance team.
- Ensure the technical infrastructure for events (registration system, event website, etc.) is up to date and functioning correctly with the support of the internal IT team and external service providers.
- Lead onsite event operations, including logistics, registration, coordination with staff, volunteers and sponsor relations.
- Provide regular reporting on event performance, including attendance, ticket sales, attendee satisfaction and financial outcomes with the support of the VP, Marketing, Communications & Events.
- Awards Administration & Logistics:
- Oversee the awards nomination process, including managing the awards portal and communicating with nominators and jury members.
- Manage five annual event award videos and be available to travel with a film crew to shoot locations across the country when required.
- Ensure smooth operation of all award-related logistics, including jury meetings, interviews, video production and post-production.
- Collaborate with the Marketing team to promote award nominations and deadlines and provide insights for strategic award promotion.
- Track nominations and liaise with nominators to ensure completion of nomination forms.
- Team Leadership & Collaboration:
- Manage and mentor the Events & Awards team, ensuring professional development and a collaborative work environment.
- Coordinate with other departments, including Marketing and Communications, Business Development and Finance, to support event promotion, financial reporting and sponsor engagement.
- Foster relationships with key stakeholders, including CCIB members, sponsors, and partners, in collaboration with the marketing and communications team to ensure strong participation and support for events and awards.
- Act as the primary point of contact for event-related inquiries and issues, resolving them efficiently and effectively.
- Strategic Event Management & Continuous Improvement:
- Work with the VP, Marketing, Communications & Events to develop and refine event strategies, processes and technologies to continuously improve the efficiency and impact of CCIB events.
- Lead post-event evaluations and use data-driven insights to enhance future event planning and execution.
- Stay current with industry trends and best practices, leveraging new technologies and approaches to enhance event delivery.
Skills & Work Experience:
Formal Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Event Management, Communications or a related discipline or equivalent experience in events management.
- Proven experience in managing large-scale events, preferably in a member-based organization.
- Strong proficiency in event technologies, including CRM systems, registration platforms and digital event tools (e.g., MPower, WordPress, Webex).
- Demonstrated experience in managing budgets, logistics and vendor relations for events.

- Analytical mindset with the ability to leverage data for event reporting and strategic decision-making.
- Please note that a significant amount of cross-country travel is required, including five or more trips of 3 to 5 days per year.
Considered an Asset:
- Familiarity with Indigenous business and relations.
