Introducing Canadian Council for Indigenous Business

After 40 years of supporting Indigenous businesses across Canada, we’re excited to announce that our name has changed to Canadian Council for Indigenous Business, bringing with it a modernized and refreshed brand.

But our brand refresh is more than a logo. It’s about reaffirming our dedication to supporting Indigenous businesses and fostering economic growth in Indigenous communities. Our new look reflects our past while embracing the future, symbolizing our commitment to continued growth and innovation.

Through the RFP process, pipikwan pêhtâkwan was selected to help with the brand refresh. They are an Indigenous-owned communications agency based in Treaty 6 (Edmonton, AB), and are a Certified Indigenous Business. We also collaborated with their Elder Coleen Garska to approach this work in a good way.

Our new logo includes our iconic red feather to illustrate that while we might be changing, we have always maintained our core commitments and values, and this can be trusted. The feather symbolizes mutual respect, strength and integrity. Eagle feathers are often gifted by Indigenous community leaders to demonstrate this respect.

The feather in our logo embraces the shining sun, which depicts a bright future, new energy and growth.

The feather also supports the converging path forward and upwards, representing our grounding on the journey together (Indigenous and non-Indigenous businesses) toward new and exciting opportunities ahead.

We understand that change can be hard, but we will make it as easy as possible for CCIB members to ease into the new brand logo and name. We want members to know that you will have plenty of time to adopt the new brand and sub-brands at your own pace when it works for you. We will provide you with all the tools and resources you need to make that transition in the weeks and months ahead.

Our brand refresh is about ensuring that our visual identity aligns with our values, mission, and the resources and opportunities we provide.

By updating our brand, we’re signalling our commitment to stay relevant and engage with members in a meaningful way.

This will mean a change to our website and web address. We have acquired a new domain, ccib.ca, which will be continuously updated in the coming months.

We want to hear from you! Members are encouraged to reach out to marketing@ccab.com (soon to be marketing@ccib.ca) with any questions or concerns or to their direct contacts at CCIB!
