Pre&Peri is a streetwear brand featuring original Indigenous artwork inspired by Woodland Art, nature, traditional teachings and dreams.
Pre&Peri was created by Caitlin Wemigwans, an Anishinaabe woman who grew up in Northern Ontario, Canada with few traditional teachings. Caitlin’s motifs are her interpretations and expressions of her ongoing search for connections with her heritage, told through an urban Indigenous lens. She aims to celebrate the rediscovery of traditions lost to many First Nations.
Pre&Peri believes in keeping as much of our production as possible within Turtle Island (North America) in order to maintain a clearer supply chain, ensure the social equity of the people involved in the various stages of production, support our local economy, and reduce our carbon footprint by reducing shipping distances during production.
Pre- and peri- are prefixes meaning “before and during” making Pre&Peri a fitting name for a brand that merges pre-colonial Indigenous traditions with our current “peri-colonial,” everyday life.
