As the bank for Canadian entrepreneurs, BDC provides access to financing and advisory services to help build an economy that is more sustainable and inclusive.
We have a long history of working with Indigenous business owners and appreciate your unique histories, cultures and contributions in Canada. We stand in solidarity with you and all Indigenous peoples, and are committed to listening, learning and taking action towards Reconciliation.
We also recognize that actions speak louder than words. In 2021, we introduced mandatory employee training on the 4 seasons of Reconciliation. Our Indigenous employee resource group helps employees understand and shift mindsets about Indigenous people, culture and history, plus shares inspiring stories featuring employees and clients. To build diversity within the bank, our HR team also works with partners, such as Indigenous Works, to attract and retain more Indigenous employees. This is an ongoing practice.
In addition, BDC offers the Indigenous Entrepreneur Loan with financing of up to $350,000 to start or grow a business, with preferred rates and no additional fees. We also co-created the $150M Indigenous Growth Fund with the National Aboriginal Capital Corporation Association that increases capital to Indigenous business owners through a network of Aboriginal Financial Institutions (AFIs).
We are here to help you succeed on your business journey with capital, access to free resources and training, and partners and organizations that support entrepreneurs and the Indigenous business community across Canada. And most of all, we are here to listen and learn. Find out more at bdc.ca.
